Information & direction signs

Accommodation ahead

What it means

Accommodation, such as a hotel or motel, is available ahead.

Green, blue and brown signs give directions, distances and services.

Summarised from ICBC’s Learn to Drive Smart. Read the original: Signs signals and road markings ↗

How to recognise it

A blue square with a white bed: a person’s head on a pillow at one end.

Where you will see it

On highways ahead of towns, exits or turns with hotels or motels.

What to do when you see it

  1. 1.If you are getting tired, plan to stop here: taking a break and resting keeps you alert behind the wheel.
  2. 2.Check mirrors, signal and slow gradually before the turn or exit, as for any stop.

On the knowledge test

Match the symbol: a bed is accommodation ahead. It is a blue service sign, not a warning, so there is nothing to obey.
