The light is about to turn red. Slow down and stop before the intersection unless you cannot stop safely in time.

How to recognise it
The middle light of the signal lit steady yellow.
Where you will see it
At every intersection controlled by traffic lights, between the green and the red.
What to do when you see it
- 1.The light is about to turn red: slow down and stop before the intersection.
- 2.Go on through only if you are past your point of no return and cannot stop safely in time.
- 3.If you are already in the intersection waiting to turn left, you are legally allowed to complete your turn; watch for oncoming drivers trying to beat the red.
On the knowledge test
Yellow does not mean speed up to make it. The rule is to stop unless you cannot stop safely in time; the left-turner already in the intersection may finish the turn.
