Flashing green arrow with steady green
What it means
You may turn in the direction of the arrow or proceed straight. Once the arrow goes out and only the green light remains, you may still turn left but must yield to pedestrians and oncoming traffic.

How to recognise it
A regular signal with a steady green light and, at the bottom, a flashing green left arrow.
Where you will see it
At intersections whose left-turn lanes have no separate set of lights: the advance green arrow sits at the bottom of the regular lights. Some operate only during peak traffic hours.
What to do when you see it
- 1.You may turn in the direction of the arrow, or go straight on the green.
- 2.While the arrow flashes, your left turn is protected from oncoming through traffic.
- 3.Once the arrow has turned off and only the green remains, you may still turn left, but you must yield to pedestrians and oncoming traffic.
On the knowledge test
In B.C. the advance left turn is this flashing green arrow, not a flashing round green. After the arrow ends, the left turn on the plain green is no longer protected.
