What it means
Left turns are allowed while the arrow flashes; through traffic must stop for the red light.

How to recognise it
A signal with a steady red at the top and a flashing green left arrow at the bottom.
Where you will see it
At intersections where the advance green arrow sits at the bottom of the regular lights. Some of these arrows operate only during peak traffic hours.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Turning left: you may go while the arrow flashes, checking that the crosswalk you cross is empty.
- 2.Going straight: the red is for you. Stop and wait for the green.
On the knowledge test
Split the signal by where you are going: left turns are allowed, through traffic must stop for the red. Do not follow a left-turner into the intersection if you are going straight.
