Bus lane
What it means
A reserved lane: only buses may use it. A white diamond painted on the road surface also marks a reserved lane.
White with black or red; a red circle with a slash means prohibited, a green circle means permitted.

How to recognise it
A sign split in two: a black panel with a white diamond on the left, and a black bus on white on the right.
Where you will see it
Over or beside reserved lanes on busy city streets, which also carry a white diamond painted on the pavement.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Do not drive in this lane: it is for buses only, and sometimes cyclists.
- 2.Vanpools may use it only when a "Vanpool Permitted" tab is shown below the sign.
- 3.To turn right off a street with a reserved lane, move into it where permitted and when safe, just before your turn.
On the knowledge test
The diamond marks a reserved lane; the picture tells you who it is reserved for. A bus alone means buses — not carpools.
