Tunnel ahead
What it means
A tunnel is ahead. Turn on your headlights and take off sunglasses before you enter.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it
A yellow diamond with the black arched opening of a tunnel.
Where you will see it
Before road tunnels, mainly on mountain highways.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down before the entrance so your eyes can adjust to the lower light.
- 2.Turn on your headlights and take off your sunglasses before you go in.
- 3.Avoid stopping inside the tunnel unless you have to.

Expect a question on what to do before a tunnel: slow down, headlights on, sunglasses off. It is often shown with the rectangular tabs that say the same thing.
