Follow the lighted arrow
What it means
A flashing arrow board at a work zone. Move in the direction of the lighted arrow, into the open lane, as soon as it is safe.
Orange signs mark construction zones and other temporary conditions.

How to recognise it
A black board of amber lights that form a large arrow, flashing to point left or right. It is often mounted on a work truck or trailer.
Where you will see it
Behind a closed lane at a work zone, or on a slow-moving maintenance vehicle.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Move in the direction of the arrow, into the open lane, as soon as it is safe.
- 2.Signal, check your mirrors and blind spot, and adjust your speed to find a gap.
On the knowledge test
The arrow is telling you the lane ahead is closed. Merge early rather than driving up to the board.
