No right turn on red
What it means
You may not turn right while the light is red at this intersection. Wait for the green light.
White with black or red; a red circle with a slash means prohibited, a green circle means permitted.

How to recognise it
A white upright rectangle: a red circle and slash over a right-turn arrow at the top, and a traffic light with its red lamp lit underneath.
Where you will see it
Beside or above the traffic lights at intersections where turning right on red would be unsafe, such as those with heavy pedestrian traffic.
What to do when you see it
- 1.While the light is red, do not turn right, even after a full stop.
- 2.Stay stopped at the line and turn when the light turns green and the way is clear.
On the knowledge test
In B.C., after a complete stop at a steady red you may normally turn right when it is clear. This sign removes that permission. It does not ban right turns on green.
