Warning signs
Playground nearby
What it means
A playground is close to the road. Be prepared to slow down and watch for children.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.
Summarised from ICBC’s Learn to Drive Smart. Read the original: Signs signals and road markings ↗
How to recognise it
A fluorescent yellow-green diamond with a black child running after a ball.
Where you will see it
Streets beside parks and playgrounds, often in residential neighbourhoods.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Be prepared to slow down; a child chasing a ball may run into the road.
- 2.Watch between parked cars and along the edge of the park, where small children are hard to see.
On the knowledge test
Without a speed tab this is a warning: "be prepared to slow down". With a 30 km/h tab it becomes a playground zone with a limit that applies every day from dawn to dusk.
