School bus stop ahead
What it means
A school bus stops ahead. Watch for children near the road, and remember you must stop when a school bus shows its alternating flashing red lights.

How to recognise it

Where you will see it
Before a school bus stop that is hard to see, often on rural roads and highways.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Watch for a stopped school bus and for children walking to or from it.
- 2.If the bus has alternating flashing red lights, stop, whether you are coming from the front or behind; all lanes must stop.
- 3.Stay stopped until the bus moves on or the driver turns off the lights and pulls in the stop sign.

The sign itself is only a warning. The questions that follow are about the bus: flashing amber means it is preparing to stop; flashing red means everyone stops, in both directions.
