What it means
When the tab under a school zone sign shows only a speed limit, that limit — here 30 km/h — is in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days.

How to recognise it
The fluorescent yellow-green school zone sign with a white tab underneath that shows only the speed, 30 km/h.
Where you will see it
At the start of a school zone, on streets beside elementary and secondary schools.
What to do when you see it
- 1.On school days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., slow to 30 km/h before you pass the sign.
- 2.Hold that speed until you reach the back of the school zone sign on the other side of the street.
- 3.Outside those hours, still watch for children near the school.
On the knowledge test
When the tab gives a speed but no hours, the test expects 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days. Learners often guess "when children are present", which belongs to the plain school zone sign.
