What it means
Road construction is ahead. Orange signs warn of construction and maintenance work: obey traffic-control persons, keep to the posted speed, stay well back from equipment and pass only when it is safe.

How to recognise it

Where you will see it
Before any stretch of road where construction or maintenance work is under way, by day or at night.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down and keep within the posted construction speed.
- 2.Obey traffic-control persons and every construction sign from the start of the zone to its end.
- 3.Stay well back from equipment and workers, and pass only when it is safe.
- 4.If a lane is closed, merge as soon as you can, then avoid changing lanes inside the zone.
