School crosswalk
What it means
A crosswalk used by school children. Yield to pedestrians, and if a crossing guard is on duty, follow their directions.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it

Where you will see it
At crosswalks near schools, usually inside a school zone.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk, and expect children to move quickly or unpredictably.
- 2.If a crossing guard or school patrol is on duty, do what they direct.
On the knowledge test
Expect the answer that includes both parts: yield to pedestrians and follow the crossing guard. A guard's direction must be obeyed at all times.
