Pedestrian crosswalk
What it means
Marks a crosswalk. Yield to people crossing the road here.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it
A white upright rectangle with a black border, showing a black figure walking over a line.
Where you will see it
Beside a marked crosswalk, at intersections or between them, usually with white crosswalk lines on the pavement.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Yield to anyone in the crosswalk who is close to your half of the road.
- 2.Check that the crosswalk is empty before you drive into it, even on a green light.
- 3.Do not pass a vehicle stopped at the crosswalk; doing so is illegal and unsafe.
On the knowledge test
This sign marks the crosswalk itself, so the answer is "yield to people crossing", not "crosswalk ahead". The yellow diamond with the same figure is the advance warning.
