Sharp curve ahead (advisory speed)
What it means
A sharp curve is ahead. Slow to the advisory speed shown on the tab below the sign before you enter it.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it
A yellow diamond with a black arrow bent at a right angle. A tab below it often gives the advisory speed.
Where you will see it
Rural and mountain roads before a tight bend.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Ease off the accelerator and brake to the advisory speed before the curve begins.
- 2.Past the middle of the curve, accelerate gently and pick up speed again on the straight.
- 3.On a wet, icy or gravel surface go slower still: poor traction makes it harder to hold the curve.
On the knowledge test
The key words are "slow to the advisory speed shown". The advisory speed is for the curve only; it does not replace the posted limit on the rest of the road.
